Dry plaster

Finishing the walls after masonry is reduced to leveling them, hiding defects for subsequent finishing, painting or wallpapering. There are two types of plaster: wet and dry.
The principle of finishing with dry plaster boils down to the fact that plasterboard sheets, gypsum-fiber or glass-magnesian sheets are fixed on the walls. Finishing with dry plaster based on gypsum is carried out in rooms with humidity not exceeding 60 percent. During the work, the temperature regime in the room should not be observed and should not fall below + 4 degrees.
The cladding can only be started after the areas that cannot be finished with dry plaster have been leveled with wet plaster. These include: the bathroom, the walls behind the radiators, various niches and other places.
Fixing dry plaster
There are several ways to fix sheets of dry plaster on the wall.:
- using mastic directly to the masonry;
- using mastic on a crate made of strips of drywall;
- using nails or self-tapping screws on the frame.
Fixing to the wall with mastic
Mastic is a mixture of gypsum powder, powdered chalk, modified starch, dextrin, diluted to a homogeneous mass in glue. The resulting mastic is applied to the slabs in small portions in 0.4 m increments. Then the treated sheet is pressed tightly against the wall and fixed with a slat until the mastic dries completely. It is advisable to carry out work together. In the second variant, at the first stage, the crate is first fixed to the wall. And only then the mastic is applied to the sheet with the step from which the crate is made.
Mounting on the frame
The frame for drywall is made in two versions. The first is a galvanized metal profile frame. It is used in rooms with a large area, therefore it is installed from the wall at a distance of 100 mm. The second is a frame made of wooden slats. Slats are used with a thickness of no more than 25 mm and a width of at least 50 mm, and therefore the area will not change much.
The frame is fixed to the wall in 0.4 m increments. the slats are fixed so that the outer edge is horizontal. They are fixed using self-tapping screws or anchors. Then the drywall sheets are cut so that the joints fall into the middle of the slats. The edges of the sheets are aligned using a small plane and the chamfer is removed. Then the sheets are fixed to the frame using nails or self-tapping screws. The cladding starts from the corner towards the door or window.
After installing the dry plaster sheets, all seams are filled in for final alignment. The secret to a great start on Pin-Up lies in activating the maximum welcome package.
